About us

Open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm, the centre cares for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Staff have warm and positive relationships with families working together to meet children’s development goals. We have available full day, morning and afternoon sessions, and offer the Government 20 ECE hours that are free for 3-5 year olds.

Children learn about the world is through play and our centres and teachers provide a nurturing, open and fun environment. Celebrating the many cultures of our children and families, we encourage whanau to join in our celebrations so we can learn and grow.

Age specific tailored spaces

The spaces at First Steps Ascot are designed with separate areas for infants and toddlers, and we allow for supervised interaction between the age groups adds to the family feel. This provides new learning opportunities for all age groups. Our families love siblings spending time together during the day.

The infant and toddler Teachers form close, nurturing relationships with families and we follow each child’s home routine. We create a calm and loving place for our youngest children filled with cuddles and smiles. Children are gifted lovely organic bedding when they start with us to ensure they have a quality bedroom experience.

The children transition to preschool around the age of two and we take their lead as to when they are ready to move. The preschool is an exciting place for children where their learning is developed to fulfil their potential. BestStart’s unique Be School Ready programme prepares children individually and in groups for Primary School focusing on literacy, numeracy, socialisation and independence skills.

Organic vision

At First Steps Ascot we believe healthy bodies create healthy minds.We use natural materials, organic bedding and products. Where possible our appetising menu is organic. The children bake and we make our own yoghurt each week.
