About us

Three Bears Titirangi Childcare is a privately owned Education and Care centre for young children.

We specialise in the care and education of infants and toddlers aged between 3 months and 2 years.

We operate small, high quality centres, with low overall numbers & higher than regulatory teacher child ratios - Research proves that these factors contribute to a quality environment and help ensure that each child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and cultural well-being is supported.

We provide calm, peaceful, nurturing & homely environments - Promoting a low-stress environment for children, and an environment that creates a sense of belonging and a ‘home-away-from-home”.

Our centres are warm and caring places, where children and whanau members feel welcome and their culture respected - We encourage family involvement and communication regarding children’s learning and planning. We are responsive to the aspirations and expectations that parents and whanau have for their children. We encourage regular communication both formal and informal.

We have a centre culture built on the core foundations of relationships and respectful practice - These elements guide and inspire everything we do! This respect includes the children, our parents and caregivers and our fellow team members.

We are a dedicated, reflective and knowledgeable teaching team – All of our teachers have a commitment to providing respectful, responsive care and education for all children, strengthening their own knowledge as teachers and growing others. We believe that through our respectful practices we will empower children to become independent and authentic individuals.

We offer a primary care/key teacher approach, promoting consistency and security - We believe it is important to establish close relationships with the children to allow for quality care and education. These close reciprocal relationships are developed through our primary care approach.

We provide a quality, individualised programming system – celebrating and building on individual children’s interests and strengths in their journey of learning and development.

In our environments, free movement and natural development are valued and promoted – We strive to provide equipment and toys that safely allow children as much freedom, mastery and open ended learning as possible. Our infants are not restrained in devices they cannot freely get in and out of such as swings, highchairs or bouncers. The importance of the natural development of stages and milestones in children’s own time is understood and promoted.

Together we share a commitment to working towards a vision for a sustainable environment – Helping to build an understanding that resources are not endless. Empowering and connecting children with nature by working together to discover ways we can support sustainability and reduce our impact on the world.

We continue to develop our emphasis on a natural environment and nature education - Natural materials and learning through nature are important to us, as is creating an environment that entices children to encounter and explore the world around them. We aim to foster a life-long love for the wonder of nature.

We continue to deepen our awareness and appreciation of the bi-cultural heritage of our country – We strive to ensure our commitment to Tiriti o Waitangi is evident and that Te reo and Tikanga Māori are woven into our daily practice.
